Name : John DeFore / Alias : Hollywood Reporter
Of interest to Police fans but hardly a rock-doc for the ages.

Name : Jeannette Catsoulis / Alias : New York Times
A movie singularly lacking in rock-doc unpredictability and verve.

Name : Michael Rechtshaffen / Alias : Los Angeles Times
Summers' big-screen take on those ongoing group tensions surrounding Sting's reluctance to be considered a career team player constantly strikes a by now all-too-familiar, predominantly sour, chord.

Name : David Lewis / Alias : San Francisco Chronicle
This is a needlessly dull movie that should have gone back to the drawing board.

Name : Joshua Rothkopf / Alias : Time Out
Older and more experienced than his bandmates, guitarist Andy Summers was in the perfect place to observe Sting's dawning ego, but his self-excoriating observations are typical back-of-limo stuff.

Name : Serena Donadoni / Alias : Village Voice
Can't Stand Losing You conveys . how the Police's genre-defying sound resulted from three distinct styles (and egos) bashing together.

In his newest film, Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Amir Bar-Lev (My Kid Could Paint That, The Tillman Story) takes audiences on a thought-provoking journey into the town of State College, the home of Penn State University, an area long known as "Happy Valley." The film delves into the culture of a school, town and country where football is religion; into the world of Joe Paterno, Penn State‘s iconic head football coach for over four decades; and into the days, months and years leading up to November 2011, when everything came crashing down. HAPPY VALLEY chronicles the ensuing firestorm of accusations of this complicated and tragic tale, and creates a parable of guilt, responsibility, and identity for a small town caught in the glare of the national spotlight.(C) Music Box Films.

Name : John DeFore / Alias : Hollywood Reporter
Less an investigation into or comprehensive summary of the Penn State sex-abuse scandal than a look at the feelings it elicited, Amir Bar-Lev's Happy Valley is more concerned with the phenomenon of team spirit than any single question of fact.

Name : Mike D'Angelo / Alias : AV Club
It has no new information to offer regarding the case, and doesn't even do a terribly coherent job of organizing the details for the benefit of some hypothetical ignorant viewer.

Name : A.O. Scott / Alias : New York Times
"Happy Valley," even as it revisits past events, has a chilling timeliness.

Name : Kenneth Turan / Alias : Los Angeles Times
[A] thorough, thoughtful and disturbing documentary .

Name : Alan Scherstuhl / Alias : Village Voice
Happy Valley . [lays] bare the broken heart of a community that believed that everything was perfect in a world that never is.

Name : Chris Nashawaty / Alias : Entertainment Weekly
The documentary offers a compelling overview of the case, but Bar-Lev spends too much time painting Paterno as a victim and scapegoat. That advocacy doesn't sit well.

Name : Michael Phillips / Alias : Chicago Tribune
The film could've benefited from another 15 or 20 minutes of detail and nuance. What's there, though, is strong, thoughtful and disturbing.

Name : David Denby / Alias : New Yorker
"Happy Valley" is a devastating portrait of a community-and, by extension, a nation-put under a spell, even reduced to grateful infantilism, by the game of football.

Name : David Edelstein / Alias : New York Magazine/Vulture
Here it is, folks, in your face. Will you look or return to your own private Happy Valley?

Name : Andrew O'Hehir / Alias : Salon.com
"Happy Valley" does not try to lead you to any firm conclusion about who or what is to blame for what went wrong in the football-crazed farmland of central Pennsylvania, and viewers with different perspectives will understand it in different ways.

Name : David Lewis / Alias : San Francisco Chronicle
It's not a groundbreaking thesis, but we still get a fascinating tour of a town that may never be the same again.

Name : Justin Chang / Alias : Variety
Amir Bar-Lev offers a typically gripping and thoughtful take on the Penn State scandal.

Name : Joshua Rothkopf / Alias : Time Out New York
The troubling tale is well told, unpacked with a clarity and a minimum of ominous mood music.

On one day, in one city, the world comes together to grant one 5-year-old cancer patient his wish. The documentary "Batkid Begins" looks at the "why" of this flash phenomenon. Why did the intense outpouring of spontaneous support for a child reverberate around the world and become one of the biggest "good news stories" ever? The film explores what happens when an event goes unintentionally viral, and reveals surprising truths about what happens when a nerve is touched in our digital society. Will Make-A-Wish fulfill its mission to help Miles reclaim his childhood after battling disease for more than half his short life? In the end, the film leaves audiences to decide; did Miles need the world for inspiration? Or did the world need Miles? (C) Warner Bros

Name : Kyle Smith / Alias : New York Post
The film isn't really about young Miles (whose cancer is today in remission) but about all of us, about our bottomless capacity to do good and our shared love of little kids, big dreams, and Batman.

Name : Randy Myers / Alias : San Jose Mercury News
"Batkid Begins" doesn't have answers for our many troubles, nor will it change the world, but it provides hope for humanity, and that's something we surely need to see more of right now.

Name : Justin Lowe / Alias : Hollywood Reporter
[A] humorous and touching new documentary.

Name : Tim Appelo / Alias : TheWrap
The editing is ruthlessly efficient, and some of the talking-heads scenes are dramatized via lively comic-book renditions that lend visual panache. All the characters grab you, not just the kid.

Name : Mick LaSalle / Alias : San Francisco Chronicle
A fascinating look at how a true event can become a media event - and how courting the media can have good and bad results so mixed up that it's hard to know where the good influence stops and the corrupting influence starts.

Name : Keith Uhlich / Alias : AV Club
Tears will be shed, many of them surely genuine. Yet there's still something about this oversize spectacle, and Miles' ultimate place in it, that gives nagging pause.

Name : Jordan Hoffman / Alias : New York Daily News
The filmmakers lay on such a thick layer of schmaltz that you'll need a cape and cowl of your own for protection.

Despite just two albums to her name Amy Winehouse is one of the biggest music icons in British history. With a voice oft described as a combination of Billy Holiday, Dinah Washington and Sarah Vaughan, Amy Winehouse was a pop star with soul; a once in two generational musical talent whose appeal crossed cultural and demographic boundaries. But while her music made her a star, her chaotic personal life stole headlines. Before her death, Winehouse had discussed forming a jazz/hip-hop supergroup with Roots drummer-producer Questlove, Raphael Saadiq and Mos Def. She'd also reportedly "mapped out" a new solo album and even booked studio time with both Ronson and Salaam Remi, who co-produced her acclaimed second (and final) album, 2006's Back to Black. "She probably finished the writing -process a few weeks before she passed," said Remi. "As far as I could see, we had 14 songs. Whatever needed to happen, it was right there." The producer allowed the Amy crew to use a recording of Winehouse reciting lyrics to an unreleased song titled "You Always Hurt the Ones You Love."

Comment For Amy Regarder Gratuitment

Name : Kyle Ryan / Alias : AV Club
Winehouse was a complicated artist who deserved a nuanced, honest look at her life. In lesser hands, Amy could be a feature-length E! True Hollywood Story, but Kapadia treats his subject with respect and heart.

Name : Kerry Lengel / Alias : Arizona Republic
It's hard to watch. And even harder to look away.

Name : Christy Lemire / Alias : ChristyLemire.com
A mesmerizing yet devastating look at a singular talent.

Name : Guy Lodge / Alias : Variety
This lengthy but immersive portrait will hit hard with viewers who regard Winehouse among the great lost voices not just of a generation, but of an entire musical genre.

Name : Stephanie Zacharek / Alias : Village Voice
Even if the last third of Amy is painful to watch, Kapadia takes care not to lose sight of the human being behind the mythology.

Name : Lisa Kennedy / Alias : Denver Post
One thing is for certain: It will be much harder to hear that handful of powerful, lush, carnal songs on Back to Black without the wallop of melancholy.

Name : Inkoo Kang / Alias : TheWrap
Like all theories, the doc's "truth vs. phoniness" narrative has a few blind spots.

Name : Ty Burr / Alias : Boston Globe
"Amy" doesn't depart from the standard behind-the-music template, but it does deepen the format immeasurably, through the intimacy of its archival materials and the focus of its approach.

Name : Jake Coyle / Alias : Associated Press
Amy is a clear-eyed, deeply empathetic view of Winehouse, whose huge talent and sudden fame made too many forget she was still just a vulnerable young woman in serious need of help.

Name : Miriam Di Nunzio / Alias : Chicago Sun-Times
The film is often uncomfortable to watch, prompting that little voice inside each of us to scream out "Somebody help her!"

Name : Ann Hornaday / Alias : Washington Post
In Kapadia's assured and careful hands, the film becomes less a portrait of a tragic artist, whose downward spiral was exacerbated by opportunistic family members and colleagues, than a discomfiting mirror held up to her audience.

Name : Peter Travers / Alias : Rolling Stone
It's Amy's words, her music, her voicemails, her home videos, her friends, her family, her tormentors, and her timeless incandescence. Look, listen and weep.

Name : Manohla Dargis / Alias : New York Times
Mr. Kapadia isn't simply revisiting Ms. Winehouse's life and death, but also - by pulling you in close to her, first pleasantly and then unpleasantly - telling the story of contemporary celebrity and, crucially, fandom's cost.

Name : Peter Rainer / Alias : Christian Science Monitor
A powerful, and powerfully sad, experience.

Name : Preston Jones / Alias : Fort Worth Star-Telegram/DFW.com
The ugly unraveling of Winehouse's life infuriates and saddens anew, as Kapadia's poignant documentary reminds viewers of what was and what might have been, but was ultimately, tragically never to be.

Name : Rafer Guzman / Alias : Newsday
A loving but honest portrayal of a doomed talent.

Name : Chloe Schama / Alias : The New Republic
[An] unpredictably graceful film (given its sometimes ugly material).

Name : Rex Reed / Alias : New York Observer
Watching Amy is a torturous but endlessly hypnotic experience.

Name : Tom Long / Alias : Detroit News
Plenty of folks praise Winehouse in "Amy." But no one was there to save her. Perhaps it wasn't possible. But perhaps it was.

Name : Steve Pond / Alias : TheWrap
Heartbreaking and wrenching, if not always satisfying.

Name : Walter V. Addiego / Alias : San Francisco Chronicle
"Amy" is a film about the waste of a great talent, and you dread the inevitable ending.

Name : Paul de Barros / Alias : Seattle Times
"Amy," Asif Kapadia's documentary about the short, tragic life of British retro soul singer Amy Winehouse, is a heartbreaker.

Name : Jordan Levin / Alias : Miami Herald
You don't need to be a fan of British singer Amy Winehouse to be moved by the documentary Amy, a devastating examination of the deadly effect that celebrity culture, media and drugs can have on artists.

Name : Kenneth Turan / Alias : Los Angeles Times
[An] accomplished, quietly devastating documentary .

Name : Sara Stewart / Alias : New York Post
It's clear the smart, passionate singer knew her own mind - and the consequences of what she was doing to her body. But her tragic end, and the highly publicized chaos leading up to it, shows self-awareness wasn't enough.

Name : Wesley Morris / Alias : Grantland
There are a couple of scenes in Asif Kapadia's new Amy Winehouse documentary, Amy, that make the fame-industrial complex seem rock-bottom awful.

Name : Ben Sachs / Alias : Chicago Reader
Kapadia and King provide some worthy insights about the damaging effects of celebrity on psychologically fragile individuals. And the music is fantastic.

Name : Joe Morgenstern / Alias : Wall Street Journal
One of Mr. Kapadia's most inspired strokes in this valuable documentary is to put her lyrics on screen as she sings them, so we can see for ourselves the essential elements of her songs as they reflected, and intertwined with, her tumultuous life.

Name : Steven Rea / Alias : Philadelphia Inquirer
The film is remarkable not just for the immense talent there to see in Winehouse's performances, but the fact that there is so much to see.

Name : Ella Taylor / Alias : NPR
"All I'm good for is making tunes," she tells one interviewer. "So leave me alone to do that." Her time ran out far too early, but the luck is all ours - we still have the voice.

Name : Jim Farber / Alias : New York Daily News
The result may be depressing, but the performance footage balances it with rousing evidence of Winehouse's eternal talent.

Name : Michael Phillips / Alias : Chicago Tribune
"Amy" makes you wonder about a lot of things, one being the oldest cliche in show business - the one about the high price of notoriety, whether you have the money to cover the bill or not.

Name : David Edelstein / Alias : New York Magazine/Vulture
Amy is alternately thrilling and devastating, throwing you back and forth until the devastation takes over and you spend the last hour watching the most supernaturally gifted vocalist of her generation chase and find oblivion.

Name : Peter Howell / Alias : Toronto Star
Kapadia's illuminating, compassionate and tragic doc goes way up and way, way down with the gone-too-soon Amy Winehouse.

Name : Dave Calhoun / Alias : Time Out
Anyone with a beating heart will be forgiven for allowing it to break during this unflinching and thoughtful account of the life and death of the soul singer.

Name : Stephen Dalton / Alias : Hollywood Reporter
Amy is an emotionally stirring and technically polished tribute, its sprawling mass of diverse source material elegantly cleaned up, color-corrected and shaped into a satisfying narrative.
